Following a mail sent by the University management today informing students about the resumption of academic activities tomorrow, January 3rd, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), LAUTECH chapter has announced that the school is yet to pull out of the national strike.
The school, in the mail had asked that students check the school’s website for the new academic calendar and lecture timetable, declaring that resumption was commencing tomorrow.
The ASUU Chairman, Dr Olaniran has however, in a conversation with the Union of Campus Journalists, LAUTECH said that the school is still very much on strike as national ASUU has yet to call off their strike.
“Contrary to the popular belief that ASUU LAUTECH has pulled out of the national strike to resume tomorrow, the strike is still very much on. Until an official statement has been released by the national body, there’s nothing like resumption”, he said.
He further buttressed that the school will resume academic activities as soon as the national strike is called off, as there are no underlying issues affecting the school’s chapter.
Unnamed sources have said that FG has released a sum of N15.89billion to Nigerian Universities today, in a bid to end the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). However, no news has been heard from national ASUU ever since.
